The Site Architect is responsible for supervising architectural works on construction sites, ensuring that projects are executed according to the approved plans, with a strong emphasis on design fidelity, quality, and timeliness. The Site Architect acts as the bridge between the office-based design team and on-site execution teams, providing hands-on support to subcontractors, foremen, and workers. This role also assists in resolving plan-related issues, preparing or updating drawings when needed, coordinating with engineering disciplines, and preparing estimates and permit documentation. The Site Architect may also sign and seal architectural drawings.
Core Responsibilities
1. On-Site Supervision
- Ensure construction work complies with approved architectural plans and specifications.
- Monitor daily site activities, focusing on workmanship quality and progress accomplishments.
- Support subcontractors and foremen by interpreting and clarifying architectural plans.
- Identify and help resolve any inconsistencies between actual site conditions and planned designs.
- Recommend and prepare plan revisions or architectural variations when needed to complete works effectively.
2. Design and Planning
- Assist in preparing architectural plans and layouts for new projects.
- Coordinate architectural components with civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical engineers to ensure coherent and complete construction drawings.
- Participate in design meetings and provide practical input based on site execution experience.
- Review and sign architectural drawings as required, in compliance with regulatory standards.
3. Permitting and Documentation
- Assist in the preparation and submission of architectural documents required for permit processing.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and local government units when needed for approvals.
- Maintain organized records of plans, revisions, permits, and related documents.
4. Estimation and Costing
- Prepare architectural estimates for labor, materials, and equipment based on plans.
- Coordinate with the quantity surveying and procurement teams to ensure accurate cost projections.
- Review supplier and subcontractor proposals related to architectural scopes.
5. Special Assignments
- Support preparation of as-built drawings and turnover documentation as needed.
- Assist with design variations and shop drawings requested by site engineers or clients.
6. Other Duties
- Collaborate closely with project management, field engineers, and technical support teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Participate in internal and external project meetings.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Office Engineer in line with the Engineering & Operations Department’s objectives.
