The Fabrication Foreman supervises an in-house crew that produces cut-and-bent rebar, hollow blocks, reinforced concrete pipe (RCPC), and other precast or semi-finished components prior to deployment to construction sites. The role plans daily outputs, allocates labor and materials, enforces safety and quality standards, coordinates equipment upkeep, and ensures finished products are delivered on schedule.
Core Responsibilities
- Production Planning & Execution
- Interpret project drawings and fabrication work orders; set daily and weekly production targets.
- Organize labor, equipment, and raw materials to achieve required quantities and quality levels.
- Adjust production plans to accommodate rush items or design revisions.
- Quality & Safety Control
- Inspect in-process and finished products to verify dimensional accuracy, strength, and surface quality.
- Enforce PPE use, safe machine operation, and housekeeping in the fabrication area.
- Implement and document quality-assurance checks (e.g., concrete slump, rebar bend tests).
- Resource & Inventory Coordination
- Monitor stock levels of cement, aggregates, reinforcing steel, molds, and consumables; request replenishment in advance.
- Minimize material waste through optimized cutting patterns and batching practices.
- Coordinate with the warehouse team for timely delivery of raw materials and dispatch of finished goods.
- Equipment Upkeep
- Ensure fabrication machines, mixers, rebar cutters/benders, and molds are cleaned, lubricated, and in safe working order.
- Schedule routine servicing; report major breakdowns and coordinate repairs with the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain daily production logs, material-usage records, and equipment-maintenance checklists.
- Submit incident and non-conformance reports; recommend corrective actions.
- Assist management with cost tracking and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Vocational certificate or relevant technical training in metalwork, masonry, or concrete production (TESDA NC II/III an advantage).
- Minimum 3 years’ fabrication or precast production experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead-hand role.
- Hands-on knowledge of fabrication equipment (rebar benders/cutters, block-making machines, concrete mixers, molds).
- Ability to read shop drawings, bar-bending schedules, and basic structural details.
- Strong focus on safety, product quality, and schedule adherence.
- Good communication and crew-coordination skills.
